Communications Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane told the committee that she would appeal a recent High Court ruling that the appointment of the SABC’s top executives should be made solely by the SABC board, without the requirement of approval by the minister.
She was referring to the High Court application that Media Monitoring Africa, the SOS Coalition and the Freedom of Expression Institute brought against the SABC, the minister of communications and others.
