JOHANNESBURG – A long legal saga that was seen as a global test of the rights of journalism is finally over.

The founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange, has pleaded guilty to one charge of espionage and has been set free.

For years he has spent time holed up in an embassy and in a UK prison, fighting extradition to the US. The US accused him of disseminating classified information that put sources in danger.
