• Children account for 39% of the population but how do they fare in the news media?
  • How often do we hear their voices?
  • Which stories do they appear in?
  • Is coverage of children ethical and fair?

At a time when media is under a lot of scrutiny join us to find out how selected print media are doing in covering one of South Africa’s most marginalised groups – children.

Which print media cover children the best and which media need to be ashamed?

Media Monitoring Africa (MMA) has been monitoring selected print media to see how children are represented in the media. The report is a follow on to research that was conducted last year and will mark the fourth children’s research report to be launched by MMA since 2003. It offers some startling comparisons in coverage over the last seven years.

Come and hear some of the editors responses to the report.
