On 20 January 2015, Zambians voted in the country’s presidential by-elections. Due to low voter turnout, these elections seemed to not be very popular, as only 34% of registered voters went to the polls. This could be attributed to many reasons. One reason for this may be that many people believed that only a year was left in the current term and thus argued for continuity. Despite this context, what was the role of the media? Did the media deliver credible information that assisted those who had taken the decision to vote?
